TWD: World Peace Cookies

I have been a follower of Jess at Cookbook Habit for quite some time. It's a great site, she has a toddler and I can always count on her for a good recipe. So, I knew that her recipe for Tuesdays with Dorie would be an awesome choice. And it was. It was so incredibly easy, but I must admit that I took out eggs in anticipation that I would need to crack one. Nope.

I cut the recipe in half and gave the majority of them to my MIL who loves everything chocolate. I kept a few for my little boy to surprise him with a treat in his lunch box. Only one left, much to my chagrin.

I will definately make these again -- super easy and super delicious.

TWD: French Pear Tart

My post for Tuesdays with Dorie is almost a week late because I didn't have a tart pan. I know, I know, I didn't have to have one, but I wanted to half the recipe because I have gained about five pounds since starting this blog. As a result, I have started back running. Anyway, I digress...

I bought small tarts plans and I am so glad that I did. They are were so cute, so small, so everything. These tarts were so good. I devoured one as soon as they came out of the oven. I think this is my favorite dessert I have made from Dorie's book. No wonder she picked it. Go check out Dorie's own creation and the original recipe at her blog.

TWD: Plum Cake

Last week, I sat out the chocolate chunkers. This week, I was determined not to sit on the side lines. There were a lot of reasons that I wanted to make Dorie's recipe, but my main inspiration were the plums. I haven't had any all summer. Not because they didn't look good, but because I am horrible at picking out good plums. My mom is a master at picking delicious plums. Me, not so much.

I wouldn't say that I loved this recipe. It was good, but that's about it. I can't blame it on the plums -- they tasted good. I tried hard to love it, in fact, I had big plans for the plum cake to make some rounds during the holidays. No such luck. If anyone asks me to make a dessert with plums, I got one. I'll let you know if anyone request such a recipe.

Now, back on a high note. I love next week's recipe...creme brulee. Yum. I know all the restaurants with the best creme brulee in town. Boy, wouldn't it be nice if I could make it at home and save some money. I have the dishes, a blow torch and lots of spoons.

Thanks to Michelle at Bake-En and go find out what everyone else thought of this recipe at the TWD Blogroll.

I'm A Tuesdays With Dorie Slacker

Sorry, guys. No baking this weekend. Just too much on my plate right now. I normally bake when my little one is asleep. When he slept this weekend, I slept. Sleep has been eluding me and I couldn't keep my eyes open. Got some pretty bags under my eyes. I am looking forward to the plum cake. Don't count me out...just sitting the bench for this one.

Go check out Claudia of Fool for Food and everyone else at the TWD Blog.

No Whoppers for Me

Let me apologize in advance. I don't like whoppers. Ick. I decided to opt out of this week's challenge. But, I can't wait until next week when we are making Chocolate Chunkers. I have already checked out a ton of blogs and most everyone like this week's cookie fix. So, visit Rachel over at Confessions of a Tangerine Tart for the recipe. If you like whoppers, this is the recipe for you.

TWD and Operation Baking Gals

Whew. Tuesday is almost over. Thank goodness. Seems like I am short on energy, short on time and short on sleep. I had big baking plans this weekend but scraped them when it hit me that I had planned to make two batches of cookies. One to send overseas for Operation Baking Gals and one for Tuesdays with Dorie. Yep, you guessed it. I only made one batch -- saving myself a lot of time and dishes.

This week, Stefany of Proceed with Caution choose Chunky Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Chocolate Chipsters. Lemme tell you they are good. The recipe made so many that I sent a big 'ole batch overseas, took some to work and have a stash at home. I loved all the ingredients, especially the sugar, brown sugar and butter. Mmmmmm...my tastebuds are watering just thinking about it.

I had planned to make the NY Times Chocolate Chip Cookie for Operation Baking Gals but thought the TWD cookie was a nice departure for their taste buds. I still have plans for the NY Times cookie, just not sure when.

Next week: more cookies. Can't wait.

No Dorie This Week!

I just couldn't do it this week. I know when to take a break and this week is that break. I promise to be back next week for Chunky Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Chocolate Chipsters. I mean c'mon, who doesn't love peanut butter. So, forgive me for being a slacker but stop by Food Family and Fun for the recipe. TS Fay + Day Off = Granola Grabbers

TS Fay gave me a perfect opportunity to finally make the Granola Grabbers. You know, those grabbers that I actually should have posted on Tuesday. Yep, call me a slacker, but at least I made them.

A word about Fay: she is one mean gal. I had to be at work for a few hours today and when I finally headed home the weather was horrible and I had detour after detour. There is so much to this story -- hubby being at work for 12+ hours, my grandmother's house flooding and then every access point to my house closed...I don't even have the energy to type about it. I just walked in about a hour ago and can't wait to crawl into bed. Unfortunately, it's not over...more rain bands, more flooding, more everything. Sigh.

Now, back to the granola grabbers that I actually made Friday...I followed the instructions and they were flat, flat, flat. Then I got smart and put them in mini muffin tins.

I think they are really yummy. A little greasy -- no clue why, but still very good. This recipe will definitely be made again. Heck, I have a whole bottle of wheat germ -- took me forever to find it in the grocery story -- and it was a bigger bottle than I expected. You guessed it -- I am going to look for more recipes with wheat germ so that I can use the big ole jar before it expires in 2009.

Anyway, yum yum grabbers. Go check out the recipe over at Michelle's Bad Girl Baking and check out what others thinks over at Tuesday's With Dorie.
